THERE was cause for celebration at a Weymouth community centre when Win Hudson reached the grand age of 99.

Despite her advancing years, Mrs Hudson enjoys playing whist every week at the Park Community Centre in Chelmsford Street.

When members heard about her birthday, they decided to buy her some flowers to mark the occasion.

The following week a cake made by one of the members was presented to Mrs Hudson.

Mrs Hudson was born on March 8, 1915 in Birmingham but has spent most of her life in Weymouth.

She makes the most of her time playing whist and attends the weekly whist drive at the centre.

She first joined the sessions at Weymouth Angling Club but now attends the Park Community Centre.

Dave Burchill, from the Waterside Weymouth Community Forum, which organises events at the centre, said it was decided Win’s important birthday should be marked. He said residents are welcome to join the whist drive which is held every Thursday from 2pm.
