Careers College offers a range of opportunities and we saw what the other students thought of their courses.

Some seemed to enjoy their careers college experience and others didn’t find the choices great. We interviewed some students half way through their course to see if they were enjoying it or not.

One student Morgan Thomas Pollock from All Saints, who chose the engineering option, said: “I am enjoying the experience but my preferred choice in a career would be in motor vehicle engineering.”

Throughout the past week, schools from across Dorset have participated in a variety of workshops hosted by Weymouth College.

Harry Duckworth from the IPACA School took part in the 3D animation design course that was on offer.

Harry said the course was very enjoyable as he was putting the skills he had learned into making a spaceship on a computer programme called Auto Design.

The workshops have proved a hit for many of the students giving them an insight into future careers.

We took part in the taster journalism workshop and as part of this we had to interview fellow students and teachers from various workshops across the college campus.

Josh Willis, 15, from IPACA Royal Manor Campus informed us that “I chose this plumbing workshop because it appealed to my skills.”

He then further went on to discuss his future in this domestic science. “I wouldn’t continue this field of expertise because I don’t think it would suitably expand my career prospects,” he said.
