THE Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA) played host to guests from top technology brands.

Guests from Google, Samsung, BT and European Electronique visited the school to see how they were using new technologies.

They visited the Osprey Quay campus and were given a talk by digital leaders: Amelie Hiscocks, Finlay Short, Kyle Creasy and Kyanna Richardson, who spoke about how technology was inspiring learning. Kyanna said: “We really enjoyed sharing with them what makes our school so special.”

The guests toured the campus and sat in on a technology engineering and design workshop, they also visited Royal Manor Campus.

The director of digital learning and innovation at the academy, Gary Spracklen, said being the first UK school to offer one-to-one Chromebook provision was ‘big news’ in the technology sector.

He said: “The visitors were just one group of many that have come to the academy recently to see the new, fresh and inspiring approach to teaching and learning. It was great to visit lessons and see the Chromebooks in action.”
