DORCHESTER students put on a show featuring music from stage and screen.
Students in Year 4 from the 13 first schools in the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership performed in two concerts at St Osmunds’ Middle School at the end of last month.
The theme for each concert was Stage and Screen.
The audience were treated to songs such as ‘I Have a Dream’ from Abba, ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ from the musical Les Miserables, ‘Ain’t No Mountain Higher’ which was originally a hit for Marvin Gaye and a rousing finale from the musical Matilda.
In addition, each school performed their own individual musical offering.
The musical director for the concerts was Bob Duffin from Cheselbourne Village School.
He said: “The standard of singing was exceptional, the audience appreciative and the children thoroughly enjoyed performing.”
A retiring collection raised £312 which will be used to further fund music for DASP schoolchildren.
