ARTISTIC pupils in Blandford have presented their artwork in a special exhibition, pictured.

Year Eight pupils from the Knighton House School recently presented an exhibition of 17 paintings at local venue Pythouse Kitchen Garden Café and Shop.

Their inspiration came from the British artist John Piper, a 20th century English painter, graphic artist, designer and writer.

He had a long and diverse career but is particularly noted for his paintings of architectural views, especially of churches and stately homes.

The pupils had the opportunity to use the grand interior architecture of Milton Abbey as their inspiration and, after a series of study visits, the girls used the structure to create their Piper-inspired compositions. Sara Burton from Milton Abbey’s art department attended and judged the work and after a difficult decision, she announced Poppy Hughes in first place and Emily Hawkins in second place.
