PUPILS on Portland took a leap into the world of work with an inspiring morning with industry experts.

Year 11 students at the Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy got an insight into the world of work at Futures Day 2015.

Representatives from 18 organisations took part in a carousel of activities to inspire students as they shared their experiences and talked through their routes to success. Year 11 student Keira-Jade Lane said: “The day was really informative and it gave us an insight into what we could do in the future. I had an idea of the way I wanted my career to progress but the day really opened my eyes to the variety of careers out there for me.” The event was organised by the IPACA Head of Sixth Form Alison Winsborough.

She said: “This is the second time we have run Futures Day at IPACA and if anything this year’s event was even more of a success than last year’s.

“It is wonderful to be able to give students the opportunity to talk face to face with contributors from such a wide range of careers.

“Not only do students get a sense of the opportunities available to them but they hear straight from the experts about what will make them stand out and flourish in what is a very competitive job market.”
