HOLY Trinity CE Primary School was taken over by aliens as youngsters and teachers dressed up to celebrate a term of space themed fun.

All three reception classes of the Weymouth school brought to life everything they had been taught about space throughout the term by dressing up as aliens, planets and other fun space characters.

As part of ‘alien day’ the three classes met to show each other their costumes, learn more about space and planets and play games.

Throughout the term the children, as part of the ‘blast off’ theme, enjoyed learning about planets, space and aliens.

The children sent letters to their alien friends, made spaceships and found out fun facts.

Reception teacher, Sophie Keble, said: “It has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to enjoy the space theme of last term and to really bring to life all the work that we have done. The space theme has really captured the imagination of the children.”

Assistant headteacher Hilary Davidson said: “It’s been really fun for the children to find out about outer space and planets.

“We have had aliens writing to the children from their planets and the children have been writing back.”

Each term the 90 reception children focus on a different exciting theme, last term the theme focused on Ella the Elephant and Growly Bear and next term the theme is called ‘trip trap’ and focuses on journeys.

Holy Trinity

HOLY Trinity School has been on the present site as separate Infant and Junior Schools since 1953.

In September, 2007 the new Holy Trinity Primary School was opened, replacing both schools.

The new school occupies a double storey site with 23 classrooms, library, mobile ICT suites, a hard play area, with a separate playground for the youngest children and a multi-unit games area, a garden and playing field.

Its last Ofsted inspection said the school was a ‘good school’ which offered stimulating learning opportunities for pupils.

The report said: “All pupils achieve well and reach above standards by the time they leave the school.”
