BUDDING entrepreneurs have shown their creative talents at a Make Your Mark challenge held at Weymouth College.
More than 40 teenagers from Royal Manor Arts College, All Saints School and Wey Valley school pitched their ideas to a panel of judges.
The 2007 Make Your Mark Challenge prompted the students to think about the impact that they and their ideas have on the world around them.
The teams were asked to come up with an idea on the theme of Make it Pay in a Local Global Way.
All students had to aim their pitch to this title and complete four tasks: ideas sheet, finance sheet, competitors outline and the pitch.
The teams responded with innovative, creative and environmentally friendly ideas ranging from distribution solutions to help solve traffic congestion, turning graffiti into art and recycling schemes.
The winning team was Earth from All Saints. Its idea was to recycle televisions and modify them so that they can receive digital television.
The aim is to make it more affordable for people that cannot afford a new TV.
Kate Carter, who is ages 14-16 co-ordinator at Weymouth College, said: "The Make Your Mark campaign aims to inspire young people to have ideas and make them happen. The not-for-profit campaign is backed by an unprecedented coalition of businesses, charities, education bodies and government.
"This year the Make Your Mark Challenge was bigger than it has ever been with more than 38,000 young people competing across the UK. The Make Your Mark campaign provides students with an excellent insight into what it takes to come up with a great idea and a business plan and I am really impressed with what the students achieved in this competition."
