Taster day schedule for adult learners

COURSES lined up in the adult education programme can help employees upgrade their skills as well as indulge in leisure pursuits.

Dorset Adult Learning, formerly called Adult Education, has various courses continuing and starting after Easter for the summer term.

A series of courses are being held as part of a taster tour to give people an idea of some of the courses on offer.

The taster tour, which includes a free lunch, will be heading around its centres in Dorset on Fridays and Saturdays from April to June.

Taster courses on offer include astronomy on the web, Polish, Japanese, planning a children's party, Photoshop basics, Indian head massage, building self-confidence and esteem, psychology, Venetian masks and dealing with difficult people.

Centres on the tour include Weymouth, Bridport, Blandford, Gillingham and Dorchester.

The taster tour sessions are £15 per taster and £25 for two. The taster tour comes as people are encouraged to sign up for longer courses from April onwards. The service has changed its name from Adult Education to Dorset Adult Learning. It has nearly 500 tutors, who taught 10,000 individuals last year.

Courses are held at education centres during the day and evening. They are of varying lengths and for different qualifications, from one day workshops to longer term length courses. Subject areas include arts, crafts and media, languages and humanities, business and ICT, and health, fitness and leisure.
