NEW students at Budmouth College took up the challenge of the annual Freshers Camp on Dartmoor.
The camp has been running for 25 years and aims to help new students integrate into their new school, make new friends and gain confidence.
This year 250 students and staff travelled to Dartmoor and took part in activities including: mountain biking, pool games, hill walking, camping, a zip wire, juggling, initiative tests, trust games, a disco and a campfire.
A night navigation exercise included the circumnavigation of three tors on the moor and the camp ended with a demonstration of fire juggling.
Joining the team to help on the camp this year were ex-students from the college including two doctors and a Royal Marine.
Camp organiser John Hegarty said: “It is always great to see youngsters making new friends, meeting some of their teachers and growing in confidence throughout the camp.
“They certainly enjoy themselves and we will see many back on our adventure programmes over the coming years. It’s a fantastic introduction to their new school”.
