CHARITABLE students competed in tug-of-war, tackled climbing walls and attended rock concerts to support Help for Heroes.

IPACA students and staff from Wren House banded together to put on the academy’s first house week.

As part of the structure of pastoral care in the all-through school, the houses choose a charity they want to raise money for and put on a week’s of activities.

Wren was the first of the academy’s four houses to host a week and students and staff put on a range of activities including space hopper racing, tug of war, a rock band show, a football penalty shoot out, film club, a bike skills challenge, a maths challenge, a climbing wall and they even had the chance to feed the Fancy’s Farm goats that came at the end of the week.

Students decided to support Help for Heroes as several are in the cadet forces and the students were given a presentation by a member of the H4H team to explain what the charity did and to show them where their money would be going.

Head of Wren house Angus Dawson said the week had been a great success and he was very proud of the students and staff for their hard work. He said there had been activities to suit every taste. He said: “The activities that Wren House has organised have given everyone at IPACA a chance to be involved.

“The students have really been able to see how using entrepreneurial skills can produce great results.”
