Raising awareness of opportunities to support local young people in the workplace

YOUNG Enterprise in Dorset is working with the Daily Echo and Dorset Echo to raise awareness of the opportunities to support our local young people to become better prepared for the workplace.

The Echo have kindly established the website bournemouthecho.co.uk/youngenterprise where much more information can be found regarding Young Enterprise and the programmes on offer and how to get involved.

Schools right across the county are giving pupils the opportunity to participate in the company programme. Young people will set up and run their own business for a year, gaining a real understanding of the skills required.

The programme can only run due to the support and guidance from local businesses. In the Bournemouth and Poole area young people can chose which night and where they would like to meet, each opportunity hosted by a local businesses.

Young Enterprise South West is very grateful to local businesses such as J.P. Morgan, Procter and Gamble, Castlepoint, Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Tower Park for their support with this programme.

Volunteers are needed to advise the young people on the company programme, particularly from Poole and Weymouth.

For more information, or to request participation as an achiever, school, business, or volunteer please contact the local development manager Hannah.towner@yesw.org.uk

Volunteers are also urgently required to assist with an employability scheme being offered at Portchester School, Rossmore community college, Bishop of Winchester School, Poole High School, The Grange and Budmouth Technology College.

Advisers will meet with a group of 6 students for 2 hours per month between September and April. Advisors will guide the pupils though a series of structured workshops designed to raise their aspirations and understanding of the skills and attitudes local employees seek. If you can spare 2 hours a month please contact Hannah.towner@yesw.org.uk.

Young Enterprise South West is a registered charity that can only operate through the kind support of local businesses. Anyone wishing to make a financial donation to allow more pupils to take part can do so through www.justgiving.com.
