WITH Christmas only days away the Young Enterprise companies have been busy setting up stalls at Castlepoint, Poole Dolphin centre and Wimborne Market.
On November 22 six local companies, with pupils from Rossmore community college, Parkstone Grammar School, Bishop of Winchester, Portchester school and Poole High School all had a taste of selling their products to the public. These trade opportunities have allowed the pupils to experience firsthand how to price and package their products to attract customers to their stall.
Confidence throughout the day grew as the companies started to make a profit and the pupils learnt how to promote their products and talk to potential customers. Most learnt it was not as easy as first thought. ‘Squeeze’ is comprised of Poole High School pupils who meet once a week at PrinceCroft Willis in Poole, they were selling a variety of products targeting customers looking for their last-minute Christmas bargain. Year 10 pupils from Rossmore make up ‘OutBurst’ who ran a lucky dip at Poole Dolphin centre. Companies will be back in Poole Dolphin centre on Sunday 20th December, come and see them for your last minute stocking fillers and find out more about their Young Enterprise experience. Young Enterprise provides students with the opportunity of operating a real-life enterprise, with real problems, real solutions, real failures and real successes.
After Christmas all 29 Young Enterprise companies will continue to develop and sell their own unique products and start thinking about winning the County competition in May. For more information contact Hannah.towner@yesw.org.uk
