CHILDREN at St Andrew’s Primary School elected the Conservatives in their own mini-election.

Four Year 5 pupils from the Weymouth school each represented one political party, with a leader and three ministers.

They spent two weeks campaigning in the classroom and playground.

The Conservatives received 186 votes, compared to 100 for Labour, 64 for Green Party and 43 for the Liberal Democrats.

The election was organised by Year 5 teacher Freda Ellis who said it was a great success.
