PARISH magazines, Fairtrade coffee and a shower curtain are among the items claimed for by Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole.

The published expenses also reveal the Liberal Democrat MP to have a sweet tooth – her claims for food bought at the House of Commons canteen include several different varieties of cake, croissants and chocolate.

There are also three separate claims for mugs – £32 worth for her ward surgeries, £20 for her London office and £10.50 for her London flat.

Her second home costs comprise mainly of rent for a one-bedroom London flat, plus bills and £1,135 for maintenance work, including painting window frames and hanging pictures.

Her claims for furniture included £102.80 for curtains, £71.99 for a rug and £149.95 for a Dyson vacuum cleaner. She also claimed a total of £7,905 for food over four financial years.

Under the Incidental Expenses Provision, she claimed £623.75 for a computer, £13.20 for copies of the Bere Regis and Affpuddle parish magazine to be posted to her and £923.55 for a burglar alarm for her Broadstone office.

Fairtrade organic coffee bought for her constituency office and ward surgeries cost £14.99; there was £6.30 for copies of the Clarion and £656.77 for a projector.
