BOURNEMOUTH East MP Tobias Ellwood claimed more expenses in the last two months of 2010 than any other member of Parliament, the latest figures have revealed.

He was paid £14,105, just £14 more than the next biggest claimant.

Mr Ellwood also had a £59 claim for a bicycle repair turned down, and was told it was not covered by his travel allowance.

Like most other MPs, the bulk of his claim was for accommodation and staffing costs, but Mr Ellwood also spent more than £1,000 on photocopier hire.

The smallest expenses payment given to any MP for the same time period was £14.03, but 66 MPs received no expenses at all, according to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.

Mr Ellwood asked the Echo to point out that although the figures were for a two month period, the claims included four months of mortgage interest claims totalling £5,000, without which he would have been "mid-table".

We hope to have the figures for all local MPS online today but in the meantime, click the link below to find them at IPSA's website.
