RESIDENTS seeking employment can kick-start their career with an eight-week course delivered by Christians Against Poverty.

Following the success of previous courses, CAP will launch another free career guidance course on Thursday, February 9 at the Prayer House, Newstead Road.

The course includes eight two-hour sessions focused on confidence building, interview techniques and creating professional CVs.

Andy Penney, CAP community links co-ordinator, said: “The time to act is now. Yes, it is tough to take that first step but free support in making positive progress is available in Weymouth and Portland. You’ll receive a warm welcome with tea, coffee and cake.”

All ages and denominations are welcome to attend the course, whether long-term unemployed or seeking a change in work.

CAP is a charitable organisation that works to release people from a life of poverty, debt, unemployment and addiction.

Andy added: “In the short term, if you have access to the internet Weymouth Citizens Advice, Weymouth and Portland CAP debt centre and Step Change have information and can offer guidance in resolving issues that might be overwhelming you.”

Everyone who attends the course will be guided by their own coach and will receive a certificate upon completion.

Participation will also count towards Universal Credit hours.

Sessions run from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and people are welcome to just turn up on the day.
