COMMUNITY archaeologist Chris Tripp will be at Bucky Doo Square, Bridport tomorrow with a stall of ancient artefacts.

He will be giving out information between 10am and 2pm and calling for people to help promote and research Dorset’s archaeological heritage to locals and visitors.

He will be there to answer any questions about his artefacts, archaeology generally and Dorset archaeology particularly.

Anyone willing to help develop a new archaeology group will be able to leave their details with him.

If he has enough people a meeting will be arranged as soon as possible.

Chris said: “Hopefully I can attract enough people so that we can have a meeting and then decided our next course of action.

“I am excited about the possibility that Dorset will have a group that is passionate about the heritage and archaeology of the county and can promote that to Dorset’s communities, so that they too can have the confidence to research their own heritage.”

To be part of this new and exciting heritage group, contact Chris, who has a blog at xcavate.blogspot.com where he reports on his present activities and has more details for future events.

He can also be contacted at The Red House, 12 Cattistock Road, Maiden Newton DT2 0AG, via tripp.chris@gmail.com and by phone on 07768 695162 or 01300 321715.
