THE Looking Back pages have achieved a lot over the years, but uniting distant family members must be a first.

I was delighted to put Frank Houghton of Wyke Regis, Weymouth, in touch with his second cousin Shirley Jackson of Milborne St Andrew.

Last week Frank appealed to find members of the Climo family who live locally.

Shirley’s maiden name was Climo before she married 50 years ago, she told me when she got in touch.

After a conversation with Frank, she worked out that his mother and her father, William George Climo, were cousins.

It appears that Shirley’s grandfather, also William George Climo, was the brother of Frank’s mother.

After moving away from Dorchester as a 12-year-old, Frank said he lost touch with a lot of his cousins.

Both Shirley and Frank were delighted to be put in touch with each other and said they would like to give a big thank you to Looking Back.

It’s all part of the service here at the Dorset Echo.
