HERE are a couple more gems from Derek Pride's postcard collection to enjoy.
This view of Maiden Castle remains largely unchanged.
The site has a 4,000 year history and started to take shape around 800 BC.
The hillfort was abandoned when the Romans arrived in Dorchester between 43-100 AD.
We can also enjoy another familiar Dorchester sight - Thomas Hardy's statue.
The author is said to be a seated statue because he was very short in stature.
The statue was unveiled on September 1931 by J.M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan and a long-time close friend of Thomas Hardy.
