HERE are a couple more photos from Mr Fall of Dorchester to enjoy.

Taken before 1870, we have a view of St Peter's Church to the left.

The other photo is of High West Street looking to the east.

St Peter's Church dates back to 1454 and has associations to Thomas Hardy and William Barnes.

It also has associations with historical figures such as Denzil, Lord Holles; the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury; and John White, 'the founder of Massachusetts'.

The Reverend John White became a dominant figure in Dorchester in the 17th century and was involved with the group that sailed on the Mayflower.

He initially formed The Dorchester Company to organise and finance expeditions to the New World.
