LAST week we featured the charming tale of Wiltshire resident Terry Giles and his mini museum dedicated to Devenish and Groves breweries in Weymouth.

Terry's passion for Weymouth breweries began when he was seven-years-old and took his first ever holiday to Weymouth.

So thanks to Pat Squirrell who got in touch with Looking Back after coming across this old Devenish box which belonged to her late mother-in-law Dorothy.

Pat wanted to offer the box to Terry, who lives in Trowbridge.

She said: "My father-in-law and all his brothers used to work at the brewery.

"They had many a party in the brewery and they used to get a beer allowance which they really enjoyed.

"My mother-in-law had this box which she used to store photos and papers in.

"She passed away three years ago and I'd like to offer the box to Terry if he's interested."

Looking Back contacted Terry to see if he would like the box but he politely declined due to his wife's concern at his growing collection!

Terry said: "I'd like to say thank you to the lady because that was very kind of her to offer it but unfortunately I have so my stuff I've been in trouble with my wife and some of the bigger stuff like the bottles I had had to go!

"I have always kept the literature and adverts but a lot of it has gone to the Dorset History Centre in Dorchester which wanted it for their archives."

Terry is crossing his fingers that he can get a book he was written on the Old Breweries of Weymouth published in the New Year.

And we'll be the first to let you know when his trip down brewery memory lane appears!
