CAN you help Scottish film-maker Gair Dunlop?

He is working on a film called Yellowcake, exploring dreams of progress through the history of the UK nuclear programme.

Gair would like to hear from people who were connected to UKAEA Winfrith in some way for his new film.

He said: "Winfrith is key to this project, as many of the more successful reactor prototypes were developed there.

"Also, perhaps more importantly, issues of rural change, destruction of wilderness, technology and society have played out there in very particular ways.

"National and international visitors, politics and anxieties connected rural communities in a network of experiments across the UK and beyond.

"I’m interested in expectations, anxieties, fantasies and experiences of the heyday and the decline of this major local employer.

Gair previously made a film called Atom Town; Life After Technology in 2011, which featured the Dounreay establishment in Caithness.

He said: "I aim to be filming in the landscapes around the site during the Easter period, and would very much like to hear from any of your readers who may have any memories and insights to share - whether pro or anti nuclear.

"I’m particularly interested in the Winfrith pipeline which reaches the sea at Arish Mell."

Anyone who can help Gair with his film can write to him at Gair Dunlop, 4 Memorial Cottages, Balmerino, Fife, DD6 8SD, Scotland. They can email Gair at gairmail@gmail.com or call 01382 330169 or 07896008396.
