READER Belinda Groves has found an interesting photograph among her parents collection.
Belinda wanted to find out more information about what the picture may have been taken of.
Belinda said: “This particular photograph depicts what may have been a play or tableau featuring the Boy Bishop, as I remember my Father referred to it.
“Apart from the name, I recall no other details of the event nor do I know the date, but I do have all the names of the boys and know that the boy bishop was played by Ronald Brooks who became a vicar, then a Canon and eventually the Rector of the parish of Dorchester.”
Belinda wanted to feature the photo in the hope that there may be somebody who can shed a little light on what the photo represents.
The names of the boys from left to right are:
Kenneth Manley, Stanley Price, Percy Warren, Ronald Brooks (the Bishop), Gordon Toogood, Roy Kenway (Belinda’s Father) and Douglas Burden.
Sitting: Left to right - Wilfred Farthing and Harold Kingman
Belinda said: “Just looking at the boys I would assume it came from 1930ish.
“My Father came to Dorchester from Princetown when he was eleven – he was born in 1918 so it would have to be after 1929.
“I wonder if any of the Churches would have any records – my Father’s Church was St. George’s Church in Fordington, Dorchester.”
