OUR trip into a Weymouth town centre of years gone by has been so enjoyable, we couldn't resist bringing you this photo of W. Travers, cigar merchant and 'high-class tobacconist', a shop at 7 St Mary Street.
According to the 1911 census, Walter William Travers was not local but Kent born and a single gentleman. But living with him was Susannah Samways, a widow aged 72, and her daughter Louisa, aged 35. Thanks to Susan Hogben for her research.
