THIS week we're going to start leafing through the picture collection of Nigel Rumbelow of Weymouth.
He has acquired this photo collection from a Mrs Hayter and knows very little about the photos inside except that they date back many years and show another side to our local area.
Beginning this week we have a photo of the Wishing Well at Upwey, Weymouth.
The Wishing Well is a natural spring and its origins are believed to date back to the last ice age.
Nigel is not sure when this photo was taken, but what we do know is that it features two women who could be the 'glass-givers', positions made after the First World War. They sat by the well telling people how to make their wish and received a small tip in exchange.
We also have this rather wonderful photo showing the village of Corfe Castle.
More photos from Nigel soon.
