OFFICERS of the Dorset Yeomanry joined Lord and Lady Fellowes for breakfast to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the famous mounted Charge at Agagia in Egypt on February 26 1916.

The charge is depicted by Lady Elizabeth Butler in a painting commissioned by the people of Dorset which hangs in the Members Room at The Dorset County Council offices in Dorchester. The Painting was on public display in the County Museum during the early part of last year.

Captain Colin Parr MBE said: “Traditionally the Officers of the Dorset Yeomanry take breakfast on or as near to the anniversary and this year the Officers were invited to Stafford House as the guests of Lord and Lady Fellowes.”

“The toast, as always, was for the Unparalleled Bravery of those Yeomen who took part in the successful charge against substantial numbers of enemy set in defence that day.”

“The Dorset Yeomanry are extremely grateful for the most generous and welcoming reception that Lord and Lady Fellowes made at their home and for presenting a unique and stunning collection of Lord Kitchener’s artefacts for viewing.” he added.
