TED Wareham is hoping that the power of Looking Back can help him find out more about his relatives who lived in Corscombe in Dorset.

The 81-year-old, from East Molesley in Surrey, has been researching his family tree and discovered that his uncle who was killed in the First World War was from Corscombe.

Thomas George Wareham died on November 30 1917 at Gouzeaucourt. He married Olive Kathleen Harrison in St Mary's Church, Corscombe, on November 11 1916. She died in June 1959 aged 71 in Bridport.

Thomas was one of 11 children. His brother, Ted's father, was 60 when Ted was born and he didn't know any information about the Dorset side of the family.

Ted said: "I'm hoping someone might recognise the names. I didn't know anything about my father's family so that's why I decided to create the family tree. I found that my great grandparents were all born in Corscombe and lived there and brought up their families."

Three years ago Ted visited Corscombe for the first time and found out a lot of information from church volunteers at St Mary's in Corscombe and wishes to thank them for their help. He and his wife Pauline photographed a war memorial in St Mary's which mentions Thomas Wareham as a member of the Royal Garrison Artillery.

Ted plans to attend the Remembrance service at St Mary's, Corscombe in November and lay a poppy wreath in memory of his uncle. He hopes to meet members of his family at the same time.
