AN IMAGINATIVE event called Those Were The Days looking back at the rural and maritime history of Dorset comes to the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis on Thursday at 7.30pm.
The show is presented by the people behind Lyme Folk Weekend and is an evocative selection of archive films and songs depicting Dorset’s rural and maritime history.
The silent films will be accompanied with specially arranged Dorset folk songs, including some old favourites.
Watch Edwardian holiday makers playing along Weymouth’s sea front, the steam boats leaving the harbour, The Cobb in the 1930s, hay making, ploughing and planting, during the 1930s and 1940s, fishing in Charmouth, stone breakers in Portland during the 1950s and cider making during the 1960s, traditional trades such as pottery and rope making
Call the Marine Theatre box office for tickets.
