ON DECEMBER 30 in Looking Back we featured a woman’s bid to track down a classic car.

Eileen Goddin is trying to trace an Alvis TB 14 from a 1958 edition of the Dorset Evening Echo.

And she has come a little closer in her search for the red car, containing three women from Weymouth Operatic Society, who were posing in the vehicle along the Esplanade to promote their production of The Gipsy Princess.

Eileen has had a call from Betty Curtis, the woman in the front seat on the right. Betty is also in touch with the two other women, Ann Hardick and April Lee, who still live locally.

Betty is keen to replicate the photo, but the exact whereabouts of the car are still unknown.

Eileen said: “The car belonged to a Mr Kenneth Clegg of Portland who has since passed away and the colour of the car is red.”

She is now going to continue the search to find Mr Clegg’s family and find out where the car went.

Eileen will also be writing to people she knows with red Alvis cars in a bid to track that particular car down.

Anyone with information should contact Eileen on 01227 772479 or 07702 684463.
