ENJOY remembering one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century in Dorchester tomorrow.

Age UK Dorchester is hosting Elvis Day tomorrow to commemorate the fact that Elvis would have been 80 years old this year.

An exhibition of Elvis memorabilia will be on show.

This will include records, movie posters, books and a slideshow of photographs from Tupelo, Memphis and Nashville.

There will also be lots of music and a few surprises. The exhibition runs from 10.00am to 11.30am. Coffee and cookies will be included in the entrance fee of just £1.50.

In the afternoon at the Evergreen Cinema, there will be a short tribute to Elvis, followed by a special showing of his most popular film, Blue Hawaii.

The cinema lights will dim at 1.45pm, tea and biscuits will be served during the screening, for just £1.50, and ice creams will also be available.

Organiser Margaret Wellspring said: “Age UK Dorchester don’t just cater for the older members of our community.

“Many of today’s retired people were Elvis fans in their youth, and a day like this is something that they would find interesting and entertaining.

“We would love to see all those Elvis fans come along and have a wonderful time, and in doing so, support their local charity”.

Everyone is welcome to come along to Age UK Dorchester’s centre in Prince of Wales Road, and enjoy a fabulous day of nostalgia and entertainment.
