WE'RE continuing our look at Derek Pride's postcard collection from years gone by.

This week we're looking at an old photo of a cottage you might recognise in Dorchester.

Situated by the River Frome and known as Hangman's Cottage, the hangman who carried out the sentences at the 'Bloody Assizes' is supposed to have lived here.

Legend has it that a tunnel ran from the cottage to the prison which could well be true as Dorchester sports a large subterranean tunnel system.

We're also sharing this lovely old picture of West Walks in Dorchester's Borough Gardens. You might recognise the bandstand to the left.

It would appear as though it was just as lovely to walk through on a pleasant day as it is now.
