COLIN Divall, emeritus professor of Railway Studies at the University of York, will be giving a talk at the Dorset History Centre on Bridport Road on Thursday, February 9.
Prof Divall’s talk is entitled Do you really call that progress, Mr Marples? The politics of Dorset railway closures under Beeching.
Colin Divall was brought up near Wimborne within sight of the Southampton and Dorchester line north of Bournemouth and spent much of his teenage years on what was left of the route, once Dr Beeching had cut the passenger trains.
