CAN anyone help Brian Knight solve a mystery that has flummoxed him for some time?

Mr Knight has very, very early childhood memories of a fleet review in Portland Harbour which took place in 1936. After contacting Portland historian Stuart Morris, Mr Knight believes this may have been a fleet review in honour of the coronation of King Edward 8th, but would like more information.

Mr Knight, 85, said: "I've been trying to get to the bottom of this for quite a few years. I remember my father taking me up to the Verne and we could see many vessels in the water with their search lights on which made patterns in the sky.

"I've been desperately trying to find out what it was. but no-one I've talked to knows what it was."

Anyone who can help Mr Knight should get in touch with Looking Back the usual way.
