A WOMAN who works tirelessly to help Dorset go green has won a prestigious award.

Dorset County Council employee Kate Hall sets a shining example by going above and beyond the call of duty.

To recognise her efforts pushing renewable energy schemes including wind turbines and solar panels she was named a Sustainable Energy Champion for the South West at the Green Energy Awards.

The awards, organised by the sustainable energy agency Regen SW, recognise the importance that renewable energy plays tackling the threat of climate change.

The winners represent the best examples of sustainable energy with awards going to businesses, local authorities, community groups, renewable energy schemes, and influential individuals from across the region.

As the county council’s sustainable development manager, Kate’s role involves addressing issues like climate change through leading the development and delivery of various projects.

Kate, who was the only individual winner among the seven award categories, said: “I was both surprised and delighted to have received this award and to have the work we have been doing on sustainable energy recognised in this way. “Although it is clear that we have a lot more to do, I feel we are in a very strong position to rise to this challenge and winning this award will certainly spur us on.”
