Eco-friendly carnival gets the green light
PEOPLE taking part in this year's Weymouth Carnival are being urged to think green.
Organisation of the August extravaganza is under new management and there are lots of new ideas being floated around.
It has been decided that 2008 will see the first green carnival so people must consider this when selecting their costume for the grand parade.
If you want to be part of the procession, your costume or float must have some sort of green theme - think recycling, colour and alternative ways to cover the route without using a vehicle.
To help you with ideas for costumes and group themes, Weymouth College has teamed up with leading carnival arts company Kinetika to run a two-day workshop at the town's library in Great George Street on May 10 and 11.
For more information contact Alan Rogers at Weymouth College or the carnival committee on 01305 830255.
