My family and I decided to take a trip to Normandy for a long weekend.
We had a great time wandering around the D-Day landing sites around Normandy.
It struck me very quickly that not once did I have to pay for parking.
This included some sites of historic interest and even small towns like St Mere Eglise and the beaches used on June 6.
So why is it that Weymouth Council has to charge so much for people to visit the town and close areas?
This is surely is preventing people from visiting the town!
Take for instance the German film company recently in Weymouth filming a documentary about the south Dorset areas including Weymouth.
The producer had been here a week and had two parking tickets one of which was for being over-parked for a few minutes (I was there).
He will put in his documentary that while Weymouth is a beautiful place to visit he is also telling potential visitors not to come because of the daft charges and the overzealous parking attendants.
