I am standing in Wyke Village Square on a balmy summer evening.
Several black bags of litter are scattered about and the horse trough is being used as a car wash The pavements are full of holes where bollards have been knocked down and not replaced.
Outside one building is like a public tip.
The occasional car speeds toward the High Street or into Shruberry Lane (speed bumps would be nice) and cars park in every available niche.
Isn't life wonderful!
The Wyke Protection Society do an excellent job in trying to preserve the Square as it should be, it is just a pity that others (including the council) do not seem to feel the same.
Perhaps it would be cheaper and easier to knock all the houses down and turn the Square into a public car park (which is almost what it looks like now).
