I was most happy to see the Echo reporting on the family who were not allowed to sell their house to people from outside the area. For once the busybodies at the Purbeck District Council have got it so very right.
I have never believed in the right to buy a council home as this takes away much-needed homes from the younger people who cannot afford housing or the high cost of renting.
Right-to-buy homes come at a great discount and people who are in them often get them from having young families.
A lot of people are not eligible for council housing because of this and pushed down the ever-growing list.
Perhaps this message should be more widely spread making any right to buy home only allowed to be sold at a reduced price to local people - thus helping the younger generation who have not decided to have a handful of kids and take off the state get a home!
Some of us have had to work very hard to find a home for our families by fair means.
This, I think, gives us the right to sell our homes to whomever we choose, whereas the right-to-buy people should be very restricted as to who they sell to!
