All I ask is that the buses come on time

3:10pm Wednesday 27th January 2010

There is a running joke about waiting for a bus then three come along at once - but this is no laughing matter when it really does happen regularly and makes you late for work.

I would like to draw attention to my experience this morning in the hope that something might actually be done about it. I have complained directly to First Buses, but I am hoping a letter to the Echo might have more effect.

I got to the bus stop in Easton Square at 8.20 this morning to wait for the No.1 to arrive, which is supposed to run every 10 minutes. In the mean time we saw four buses going in the other direction.

I and many other people ended up waiting for half-an-hour as the next bus didn't arrive until 8.50 - then three turned up at once!

When I finally got on the bus I asked the driver for an explanation and he mumbled something about the school children holding things up, but then I heard him tell another passenger that two of the buses had broken down, I'm guessing that's the two buses that arrived about 1 minute later?!

I appreciate that being a bus driver probably isn't an easy job and they have to deal with some right terrors, but please don't treat all passengers like they came down in the last rain shower and fob them off with excuses.

Many of us rely on the buses to get us to work on time, especially during the rush hours.

All I ask is that buses arrive on time so that people are not late to work, and that drivers appreciate how important this is to people, who have paid good money for their tickets.

If something can be done to improve things I'm sure there are many of us who would be very grateful.
