Global warming - just don't believe it

6:10pm Wednesday 3rd February 2010

TO THOSE who still happily support the unproven hypothesis of man-made global warming I say open your eyes and ears and investigate something called Climategate.

Then visit the websites wattsupwiththat.com or thegwpf.org You will be truly shocked at the amount of scientific fraud and the deliberate amount of data manipulation that has taken place over the years.

It is, I am afraid, just a massive con to force through a green agenda of new taxes and totalitarian control over people.

The tide is turning, people are becoming more aware.

The United States legal system is gearing itself up to reclaim all the public monies fraudulently claimed for research into man-made global warming.

There are some very angry people over there - how long before the same happens here? It may come as a shock to you but CO2 does not drive the climate - it is the other way round. Temperature rises first and then the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere (mainly by the oceans) follows - lagging by about 800 years.

Solar activity and variations in the tilt of the Earth’s axis have the greatest impact on the Earth’s climate - not puny mankind.

Water vapour, eg clouds, is the most abundant greenhouse gas, not CO2. To put things in context the total amount of CO2 in the atmosphere would amount to the size of a golf ball in a large football stadium.

Of that tiny amount, mankind’s contribution would be just 3 per cent of that, in other words a pimple on that golf ball - just 3 per cent of the total amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.

In fact global temperatures have remained stable and, indeed, have dipped slightly since 1998, and certainly have not risen by 1oC in the last 20 years, as one recent correspondent has claimed. In fact global temperatures have risen by just 0.6oC over the last 120 years.

This is entirely consistent with a naturally occurring warming cycle - so hardly a cause for concern is it?

Of course we should take great stewardship of the planet; to maintain as healthy an environment as possible; to act in a sustainable fashion.

But the Earth’s varying climate is a naturally occurring event. The Earth has always warmed up and it has always cooled down, it always has done and it always will do and there is nothing we can do about it - other than adapt and use our technological ingenuity to co-exist as best we can. That is where our energies should be directed.

So I am afraid the cat is out of the bag in regards to man-made global warming. Instead of some people endlessly preaching doom and gloom all the time maybe they should rejoice that we are not all going to fry.
