Kerb stones are a waste of taxpayers' money

MAY I please express my concern at what must be the huge cost of laying the so-called ‘kerbstones for the disabled’ at bus stops.

Although I cannot speak as a blind person, these kerbs appear to me as totally futile.

Were any bus drivers consulted to discover if any of them had experienced any difficulties with blind people boarding their vehicles, apart from the obvious, that these kerbs would prevent?

Was the Blind People’s Association consulted to discover their opinions on whether these kerbs are at all worthwhile, or not at all worth the installation costs?

Could not the monies saved have been put to a better use for them?

Furthermore, I have lived opposite a bus stop on the Dorchester Road for more than five years and I am yet to see a blind person board a bus.

Considering the condition of some roads in Weymouth, I cannot but think that the so-called cash strapped district council have completely wasted taxpayers’ money on this project.
