Is is our leaders' duty to attend public meeting

What is bothering so many of us about the refusal of the district council leader and the chief executive to attend the meeting on March 24 is the fact that they are both public servants (one has been chosen by us, the other is paid by us).

Surely it is their duty to come and tell us what they propose to do with our £10million?
