Europe is the key factor

THOSE who wished for a hung Parliament are only now waking up to what it actually means in terms of compromise and political wheeling-dealing.

One factor that is bound to emerge is that the UK government will have to become more focused in its dealings with the European Union.

The critical position that the Lib-Dem party now has within parliament means that its commitment to the UK’s role within the EU will influence the attitudes and actions of Ministers.

For too long the public has been bombarded with the downsides of EU membership.

Now, at long last, we should be able to have a proper debate that educates us on its benefits as well.

We in the non-party European Movement look forward to our government performing in a way that strengthens the UK position within the EU and enables us to participate to the greater benefit of the British people.

Charles Austin, Alan Beasley, Vice Chairmen, Somerset & Dorset Branch of the European Movement

You must be joking we have been led up the garden path for too long already, the E.U has done more harm to the people of this once great country than anybody could ever have imagined, it’s time to blow up the tunnel and tell the E.U what to do, while we still have some control albeit very little.
