I would like to comment on the article ‘Danger road set for improvement’ (Echo, January 27) regarding the problems on the A31 road around the Charborough estate.
I use this road a great deal in the car and on a motorbike and would like to point out a very easy solution to the problems.
Firstly, the cheapest way to overcome the carnage that takes place every now and then, is to install double white lines on the road along the entire length of the wall.
This is a very cheap remedy to make the drivers that are in a terrible hurry slow down as they will know they cannot overtake along any stretch of this road.
Maintain the 60mph speed limit because reducing it will not stop the people in hurry.
Secondly, one of the major problems is the junction on to the A31 from the B3075 from Spetisbury.
Due to the angle of this junction and the speed of traffic on the A31 people risk their lives and try and pull out of this turning with little regard to the main road traffic.
Once again, this is due to people with too little patience to wait.
If this road was made one-way so that you can only exit from the A31 on to the B3075 it would reduce the number of accidents and near misses.
I know it would be inconvenient to go all the way to the Roundhouse Roundabout on the A350/A31 junction but it would be far safer than using the present junction.
