These days one hears and reads frequent complaint and criticism of those who care for and serve us in public or private capacities.
May I, please, through your letters, pay tribute from my family and myself to all those who have shown us great kindness, since the death of my husband, Monty Brown, and during his long illness.
Without exception, everyone – professionals helping deal with his estate; his funeral (Peter Grassby); Jo Vassie of Higher Ground Meadow; Fiona Fergus-son, B.H.A.; Madeline Kirby, harpist) and the healthcare staff, advising, treating and tending him, at home or in hospital – has shown utmost consideration.
Among so many of the latter, I should like to acknowledge particularly the help over many years given by everyone at Fordington Surgery; the renal unit, wards and chest clinic at Dorset County Hospital (and briefly the South-ampton General), and the community nursing team.
In his last 36 hours, the Dorset Ambulance Service and A&E and EMU teams were kindly supportive to us all. We thank them too.
S Brown, South Court Avenue, Dorchester
