Why would you close the café?

I fail to understand the logic of whoever decided to close The Ritz Café at the Pavilion from Monday to Wednesday and only open for business from Thursday to Saturday.

I thought that the idea was to encourage people to use the facilities at the Pavilion as much as possible, not only the theatre and ballroom but the café as well.

For a long time now I have been a regular user of the Ritz Café every week, either for a coffee or often a snack as well. There has never been a time when I have been the only occupant and I have often thought how well it is used.

People, like myself, who turn up and find the café closed will obviously find somewhere else to go and it could then become a habit thereby losing those customers.

What goes through the minds of those people who make these decisions? Certainly there is no common sense involved.

To make it pay, a café has to be open daily to cater for regular customers and to attract new ones, but perhaps that is too obvious for those concerned.

I am hoping that there will be a change of mind, but I am not holding my breath.

They cant justify opening on these days because they are simply not taking enough money...Staff wages, electric, water, etc etc.... Your right that a cafe needs to be open regularly, but at this time of year, its only common sense that they close and open with restricted hours.

Laugh ? huh. The TIC was moved to the Pavilion to back the place up, now it seems there is little or nothing to be backed up.

Perhaps it is too far to walk?
