So much for "folkies" to do in this area this summer
Getting events off the ground around the little seaside town of Weymouth can be a nightmare, as anyone who has attempted it will tell you.
Maybe it is Olympic fever kicking in, but take a step back and have a look at some of what is there for "folkies" over the next few months.
There is the Wessex Folk Festival (Old Harbour) June 6-8; Sea Food Festival around the Harbour (folkie plans afoot) July 12-13 and the Evolve Festival (Lodmoor) July 25-26.
In addition there are strong weekly sessions at the Sailors Return (Old Harbour), the Cove Inn (Fortuneswell) and a monthly session at Knights in the Bottom (Chickerell). There is also a strong monthly club at Broadmayne (Sunray Folk Club).
