Why not fly the county flag we've already got?
IT seems to have been forgotten in the debate about flags that Dorset already has one!
Why do we need to honour the memory of an obscure Saxon saint that nobody has heard of?
And what has it got to do with the people of Bournemouth and Poole who, if they did not actively choose to be separated from the county have not protested very loudly about it?
So let's have no more of this nonsense.
Fly the flag we have with its proud coat of arms and its challenging motto: Who's afeare'd?
John Neimer,
Cranford Avenue,
Weymouth.

Mr Neimer seems to have [italic]utterly[/italic] missed the point here.
The flag he claims to be the Flag of Dorset is in fact, [bold]the arms of Dorset County Council[/bold] . An organisation. Even the motto is theirs!
It is an arms - not a civil flag.
As for St Wite? Possibly the [italic]rarest[/italic] Saint and at one time one of them most [italic]important[/italic] in all of England? We should be celebrating this!
Last I checked, Poole and Bournemouth are still part of Dorset. The councils may not be, but [bold]the people are[/bold] and they have as much right to unified Dorset flag as the rest of us.
Mr Neimer seems to have
utterly missed the point here.

well said white43. We DO NOT already have a flag, that is DCC property, and no one had any say in its design. St Wite is worth celebrating.

I didn't realize you were still with us John. You mustn't stick your head above the parapet, some-one will only snipe at you. Were you working in Hampshire Road premises many moons ago?
