It is time for a change on the parish council?
I write regarding the farce that is called Crossways Parish Council. I moved to Crossways in 2006 and am amazed at how this parish council is run.
The councillors are co-opted to the council and not elected democratically. If your face fits - you're in! It seems to be like a club to some.
As for standing down after four years and try for re-election then forget it! Some of the councillors seem to have been there forever.
When anyone new does get in and they don't agree with the old school then they seem to be given a very rough time.
One councillor has just resigned having given up trying to improve things. Another is a nervous wreck due to all the stress and a third is having health problems.
No wonder there is so much in-fighting.
There is a lot of bad feeling here in Crossways.
Is it not time for all the current councillors to resign and let Crossways Parish Council start again with democratically elected fresh new people?
Let's get rid of the personal club we have at the moment.
Let's have people on our council from the new Woodsford Fields estate, people from the Magna housing areas and above all people who have always wanted to serve as a councillor but were not prepared to deal with the current council.
As for the incident at the end of last week's parish meeting, there are going to be hundreds of villagers who will see Coun Abi Scard as the local hero.
England is supposed to be a democracy, not a "Squirarchy". How about it, Crossways?
Disgruntled,
Crossways.
